Visit the key sights of Yangon: Sule Pagoda, whose name translates as "the pagoda where a Sacred Hair Relic is enshrined". The golden pagoda is unusual in that its octagonal shape continues right up to the bell and inverted bowl. On the eastern edge of the largest of the Kandawgyi Lakes is the Karaweik stone boat, a concrete copy of a royal barge, which is used as a restaurant and venue for cultural shows. The Chauk Hta Gyi Pagoda contains a 70m long reclining Buddha built in 1966. The temple doubles as a monastery for over 600 monks and a center for the study of Buddhist manuscripts. The Shwedagon Pagoda is visited at sunset. The magnificent golden dome rises 98 meters above its base. According to legends the pagoda is 2500 years old but it has been rebuilt many times and its current form dates back only to 1769. The shrine contains eight hairs of the Buddha contained in a golden cask. A golden slab was laid over the chamber and a great golden pagoda built on it.
